AcuWellness is a specialized protocol of auricular (ear) acupuncture for overall wellness, supporting mental health and recovery. It is performed by superficially placing 5 thin, single-use needles in both ears or using ear acupressure seeds instead. The needles/seeds are generally left in place for 30-55 minutes, depending on the treatment setting and/or client's tolerance. It is commonly done in a group setting, known as community acupuncture. The 5 specific needles points have effects on the nervous, endocrine, circulatory, gastrointestinal, and immune systems through targeted organ and overall wellness balancing points. Auricular acupuncture, also known as ear acupuncture, involves stimulating specific points on the ear to address various health issues. The five main points commonly targeted in this therapy are: Shen Men (Spirit Gate): Located in the upper section of the ear, this point is used to calm the mind and address emotional well-being. Liver Point: Found near the rim in the upper part of the ear, it helps with liver-related issues, detoxification, and promoting the smooth flow of energy (qi). Kidney Point: Situated in the center of the ear, this point is linked to kidney function, water metabolism, reproductive health, and energy levels. Lung Point: Located on the lower side of the ear ridge, above the earlobe, it is related to respiratory health, focusing on conditions like asthma and cough. Sympathetic Point: Positioned along the outer portion of the ear, this point helps calm the nervous system, alleviate stress, and manage pain. These points are believed to correspond to different systems and functions in the body, making auricular acupuncture a holistic approach to health and wellness.
